The Rodin Museum

This weekend we went to the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia.  It holds a beautiful collection of the French master sculptor Auguste Rodin’s work.  He has always been a favorite of mine; even if the choices in his personal life were not something to esteem.  (I highly recommend the French movie Camille Claudel.  It offers a good look at Rodin, and how he worked, from the perspective of his talented assistant and lover.)  The building and formal gardens set a perfect backdrop to Rodin’s work, and the sliding “pay what you can” scale makes the collection accessible to all who are interested.  The small, but poignant, collection is a nice stop in your tour of Philadelphia art.
